About the Club

The Southland Mountain Bike Club members are active in all mountain biking disciplines, trail building and social riding. As a Club we organise club rides and events around Southland. There are excellent tracks at Sandy Point, Bluff, Gore and Te Anau.

  • Ladies Ride - Every Wednesday 6pm at the Sandy Point Carpark
  • Club Monthly Meeting 7.30pm at Kelvin Hotel Board room. 2nd Tuesday each month.
  • Strava Cup Series - Sandy Point
  •  Sheetmetal Craft Winter Series Sandy Point. Sundays 1st & 2nd round 2nd Sunday then 1st Sunday of Month. 12th May - Round 1, 9th June - Round 2, 7th July- Round 3, 4th Aug - Round 4, 1st Sep - Round 5 & 6th Oct -Final.
  • ​​​​​​​Full Moon Beach Ride 6pm Monday 20th May 
  • ​​​​​​​2 Tyre Tracks and Hire & Wensleys Cycles 4 & 8hr Enduro. Saturday 22nd June
  • Mystery night ride Sandy Point 6pm Wednesday 17th July
  • Club Championships Saturday 2nd November 
  • Single Speed Champs Friday 13th December.

SMTBC Strava Cup 2024

The Southland Mountainbike club is running a Strava cup series over the winter.

There is an E-Bike segment too just remember to save ride as E-Bike.

This month we are heading up to the wonderful native bush in the Croydon Hills, Gore. Head out of Gore on Reaby Rd, following signs towards Dolamore Park, until you get to Pope Rd.

Park at the top of Pope Rd, then follow the main water race trail up the hill, into the bush, segment starts at the turn off to the lookout.
